Lavoid Musser
OROFINO - Lavoid Musser, 78, an Orofino area farmer and rancher for many years, died Sunday at 7:45 a.m. of cancer at Clearwater Valley Hospital at Orofino. He had been ill for two years.
He and Gladys Mullikin were married June1, 1922, at Dent, and they began farming in the Gilbert area near Orofino. They left that farm in 1949 for a ranch on Brockett Bench near Gilbert Grade where they raised registered Herefords.
They retired in 1962 and moved to Clarkston, but they bought an acreage on Grangemont Road near here two years later. They lived there until last June when they moved to Orofino Creek.
He was born Sept. 23, 1901, at Gallatin, Mo., to William and Laura Musser. The family moved to Spokane while he was a baby and to the Orofino area in 1911.
Survivors include his widow at the family home; two sons, Francis of Greenville, Calif., and Lee of Fortuna, Calif.; three daughters, Fay Gilkey and Leona Crouch, both of Orofino, and Isabelle Gleason of Kent, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Musser of Orofino; and a sister, Hazel Coffee of Clarkston.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Gilbert's Chapel with the Rev. Randal Hunt of Orofino Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens at Lewiston at 1 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
